Transcontinental Rum Jamaica 7 year old Hampden Cask D 2012

Transcontinental Rum Jamaica 7 year old  Hampden Cask D 2012

TCRL – the “Transcontinental Rum Line” – is the indie arm of la Maison du Whiskey out of Paris formed in 2016.

A single cask rum from Hampden estate in Jamaica. Distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2019 by La Maison du Whisky for La Maison du Whisky.

La Maison du Whisky, aka LMDW, was founded in 1956 by Georges Benitah and is now one of the largest whisky and rum importers and distributors in France, and known the world over. They opened their first shop in Paris at the legendary 20 Rue d'Anjou in 1968, importing their first Scotch malt whiskies in the 1970s. They are known for their expertise in not only Scotch, but Japanese whisky and rum too, and their collaborative bottlings, as well as their own independent labels like this one, are highly prized.

This was aged 4.2 years in continental weather, which allows for a slower maturation than in tropical climates.

The Hampden Estate was founded in 1753 by a Scotsman called Archibald Sterling, in the Queen of Spain valley of Jamaica’s Trelawny parish. For 250 years it remained family-owned, selling rum to third-party blenders and independent bottlers.
